Happy 2025!
Dear Readers,
What is the concept of a New Year’s resolution? Superficially, it’s declaring a public (or private) commitment to do one action to improve one’s life. On a deeper level, creating a new resolve requires self-reflection and the ability to self-analyze our shortcomings. Easy right?
Apparently, researchers have found that nearly half of Americans (and I am assuming Canadians) develop New Year’s resolutions but only 25% of individuals are still committed to their goals after 30 days, and only 8.1% accomplish them.
According to top management consultants, the main obstacle to fulfilling a resolution is the inability to turn a new behaviour into a habit. In 2024, I began and completed many improved drafts of my latest novel, Deleted Arm. The writing “habit” became so engrained, I actually felt uncomfortable if I didn’t write something -even if it was for only 15 minutes.
Have you made a New Year’s resolution this year? Have you explored how you might turn the concept into an actual concrete habit? It’s so satisfying to achieve a year-long goal! I’d love to hear from you dear Readers – how are you planning to achieve your 2025 resolution?
My 2025 resolution: I’m starting a new book so back to writing 6 days per week! Stay tuned…
