Spring

“Hope springs eternal in the human breast.”
Alexander Pope An Essay on Man 1733-34

Western culture is one of hope. And spring is the season of hope as new life
bursts forth around the northern hemisphere.

Spring has always been my favourite season — delicate blossoms painted in
pink pastels, the smell of freshly-turned earth begging to receive seedlings or tender
young shoots, the awakened birdsong and most welcome: brighter, lengthening days
with sun ascending higher in our sky.

Hope is in the air. May we inhale the clarity of spring air deep in our lungs as
we troop to the polls undaunted by fear and hatred.

Bless spring, bless hope. As always, I welcome musings from my dear readers.
